When we moved here 17 years ago this was considered the "country". Now we have every imaginable store within a 2 mile radius including Costco!! This cute little barn used to be in the middle of a field. It has been abandoned for years but now has a CVS about 100 yards away.

Great image. I love the bright red contrasting with the white snow.
ReplyDeleteGot no idea what a CVS is but I'd make em keep their distance and organize restoration of that shed. Lovely
ReplyDeleteRon - CVS is a pharmacy. Maybe they'd have a prescription to help this lovely old barn.
ReplyDeleteNice photo, Mary Lou. Great reds!
Having the city grow up around you is a blessing and a curse. It's great when you just need to run out for quick errands, but the extra traffic and loss of country feel are downers...
Great shot of at lovely old barn. It looks a bit sad though...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful image, Mary Lou! Sad about the encroaching suburbs though...
ReplyDeleteLove the old barn. The snow and the tilted barn doors help to make it a great shot.
ReplyDeleteI love old barns and this one still has it's character! Great shot!
ReplyDeleteI love old barns, but I hate that "civilization" is creeping in everywhere. Here in Texas we're losing more and more of our farmland, as the farmers are selling out to folks who grow houses on it. Won't be long before all of Texas will be paved!
ReplyDeleteSorry about the soapbox! I do love your shot (thanks for NOT showing the CVS!)
The red with the snow and the bare trees is lovely, I hope it can keep staning for a long while more...
ReplyDeleteI just love ole Barn Shots. This one is quaint with it's red & White doors. Looking very lonley sitting there. So many have disapeared now. And the new ones are all so...so..Metal..
ReplyDeleteGreat shot Mary lou.

This is wonderful! If you hadn't said that about CVS, I never would have guessed it wasn't in the middle of nowhere. I love the pop of red!
ReplyDeleteLove old barns, this one is particulary beautiful. Great photo.
ReplyDeleteI love this photo. I am in the same boat as you as it relates to growth. We moved here 7 years ago and there were cows in the fields surrounding us. Now, the cows have been replaced with Super Target, Best Buy, Bed, Bath & Beyond, and the list goes on and on. No more cows! Sad.
ReplyDeleteCharming shot of the barn - too bad the CVS is lurking on the fringes even if you don't see it. Won't be long before the barn is overtaken and we lose great opportunities like this.
ReplyDeleteI love me some good barn pictures. Good work.
ReplyDeleteThe colors!!
ReplyDeleteLove it. It's a gorgeous photo and that ole barn will always be remembered now.
ReplyDeletewhat a wonderful old barn shot. sprawl is slowly eating up the farms about my home, and it's so sad to see them all go. great capture
