302 Steeple

My husband was in the hospital at the University of Chicago. The campus has a lot of beautiful and very interesting things to photograph. While I didn't even think about my camera for the first five days when I took it out I knew just where to go.

Rockefeller Chapel was completed in 1928 and is the tallest building on the campus. In 1910 John D. Rockefeller donated the money to build the chapel. The Carillon Tower (left side of photograph) contains 72 bronze cup-shaped bells, and is the second largest such instrument in the world. Carillon concerts are given during the school year and can be heard from several blocks around the chapel. The chapel is used not only for worship, weddings, and funerals but also for guest speakers, teach-ins, musical programs, and occasional film screenings.
