At this skate park there were lots of different kinds of wheels. It was very interesting to watch them perform there "acrobatics". However, none of them were wearing helmuts which was not a good thing.
Another great B&W! You have a real talent for this kind of shot.
While helmets are desirable, what's life without a little danger? (Especially where teenage testosterone is involved!)
Sometimes I feel people are trying to protect us to death! On the other hand, common sense is a good thing. (Why, I wonder, does it seem a lot less common than it used to?)
Wow, what a perfect capture! I love watching these "skate" kids, they are incredible! The helmet thing bothers me. One of my sons good friends passed away when he was 13 from a head injury from a skateboard accident. When he fell he wasn't even doing a trick - just fell down when going down a sidewalk towards his house - it was really sad!
When kids (especially boys) are that age, they think they are invincible. Further, it takes them a long while go grow out of thinking that way too. Ask any policeman, or sheriff, or county Mountie whose job it is to patrol the highway near a ski slope. The kids are on the slopes all day, and then on the way off the mountain, they speed (wheels again!) like they are still on the slopes. The speedsters "contribute" a lot to the coffers of the county or whatever the entity might be that writes the ticket. Oh, yes. Great photo showing the delights of childhood on wheels.
It's a great shot, Mary Lou. Perfect choice for black & white. It looks like a nice skateboard park too.
Assuming this skate park is public property, a good reason for requiring helmets is that municipalities and their taxpayers end up bearing the burden of litigation costs when injuries occur and parents sue.
Choosing which image is a good candidate for BL/WH conversion is a task in itself. Great choice. I am blessed to be here, last year I had a fall, blacked out for a few seconds, ambulence, ER, 16 stitches, sore head but all was AOK. I'm still above ground. I did what every one says never do but we all do it. I was at my mothers house doing chores by my self and stood on one of her kitchen dinet chairs to clean a high shelf and the chair broke and down I went to hit the old style cast iron rediators. Blood all over every where. I called my wife on the cell phone and she called 911. Lucky me.

Lots of different wheels there, the black and white adds interest to the photo!

Great B&W! :)
ReplyDeleteNice black and white shots!
ReplyDeleteA great shot with lots of action and indeed wheels. The helmet thing is worrying...
ReplyDeleteTerrific shot for the theme. I would not have been able to get this one---I can't watch stuff like this---not even on tv. Scares me!
