265 Rural

This is the 104-year-old completely rehabed B&B that we stayed in. There are 5 bedrooms all with bathrooms and televisions, living room, dining room and kitchen. We were the only ones staying there so we had the whole house to ourselves!! As is evidenced in this photograph it is in the middle of the corn fields. The owner's house is about half a mile away on the other side of the corn field. They own 580 acres and their son lives on part of it and there is another house on another part of the land all of which were not visible from this house. They farm corn and soy beans although they all have other jobs.

  1. What a wonderful old home! It reminds me of the house in "A Thousand Acres", filmed in Rochelle, Illinois.

  2. Classic Southern Style, I can almost taste the Corn on the Cob and feel the Butter dribbling down my arm, ready to be licked off.

  3. This looks identical to my Grandma & Grandpa Day's house (where my dad grew up). When my grandparents passed away they moved the house to another location - I was so glad they didn't tear it down! Wow, tons of memories this picture brings back!

  6. I love B & B's (ok and B&B). This is just the perfect, out of the way place for a wonderful vacation. That sky is awesome!

  7. What a beautiful classic farmhouse. Nice for you to have it to yourselves, maybe not for the owners I guess. I admire people who farm, so these folks have three jobs?
