While vacationing in Florida at a friend's house I heard a lot of conversations about the iguanas that have plagued southern Florida for the last 4 or 5 years. They were originally brought into the state as pets and either escaped or were let go and began to multiply. Fully grown they can be 6 feet and about 20 pounds.
Naturally my first thought was I have to find one so I can post a photograph on my blog!! Mind you if I had come close to one of that size I don't think I could have held my camera steady!! The only one I was able to photograph was this baby who was on a sandy beach in the harbor.

EDIT: I started shooting my photographs in Apeture Priority and then wimped out!! I didn't want to back them up with JPGs so I went back to Auto. Maybe next time!! I did shoot all of them in RAW and I'm very happy with the results.
Nice nature shot. I like that you caught the lizard on the sandy beach, makes for a very tropical look. Middle Ms. Lorri used to have a 6 foot long iguana who once ate all the roses off a large bouquet sent to her by a suitor. Nothing left but thorny stems!
ReplyDeleteLucky you found a baby one. I remember being in St. John and St. Thomas and watching the big ones come around looking for dropped food at the open air bars and dining places. Eeek! Like the treatment...
ReplyDeleteThe shadows and the bright green offset each other so nicely! I'm glad you found a small one...I think a 6 foot one would send ME scurrying down the beach!!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a fabulous shot - although, I don't think I would want to be too close to this lady either!
ReplyDeleteThat's a fine shot in tricky shadows. I've never been to Florida but between the iguana and python escapees thriving maybe I'd better go soon...
ReplyDeleteThis is FABULOUS!! Love how the iguana is a little off center surrounded by the seaweed and shadows and it's the only real color in the shot. Also love the edge treatment you gave it....love, love, love it!!!
