History ~ MOT #9

Parke County, Indiana, which is where we were, is the Covered Bridge Capitol of the World. There are 31 covered bridges within a 30 mile radius. This area is full of history about the bridges. The couple who owned the B&B where we stayed were incredible historians.

This is Narrows Bridge, built in 1882 it was the second bridge to be built. Timber was plentiful and the bridges were built to last. They were covered to protect the flooring and braces from the elements. You can still drive over a lot of bridges but this bridge has been closed to motor vehicles since 1960.

  1. I love covered bridges. All of the green foliage in your pictures is nice. I like the picture on the right the best.
